Eclectic Family + Senior Session at Baker Beach

You have to be careful trying to combine multiple session types into one. A senior photo session is typically quite different than a family session, and trying to do both at once has the potential for one to distract from the other.

But there are always exceptions, and here’s one. This family was celebrating their oldest daughter’s graduation together. She wasn’t looking for a full set of posed senior photos all by herself – instead she wanted her family to be a part of the experience. And her family wanted these photos to mark this important moment in their lives. Together.

To make this session even more unique, the pictures are a hybrid of digital and 35mm film. Can you tell which were shot on film?

And for the film nerds out there, I used Portra 160 and my Nikon F100.

This Is Why

This is why I photograph families – because want you to remember how it felt.

If you see beauty in the chaos, if you want to remember the whole rollercoaster that is childhood + parenthood, I hear you.
