I live in the San Geronimo Valley of West Marin, on the way from San Francisco to Point Reyes. The valley I live in is the perfect place for photography.

So I created Local Favorites photo sessions, where we keep things simple, and you come to me.

Two
Distinct
Locations

I have intentionally chosen two very different locations for these sessions.

One is a deep redwood forest, the other an open space with lots of light. They are right next to each other, allowing us to pivot based on changes in the weather.

Also, I offer an ever-evolving list of Seasonal Picks.

Roy’s Redwoods

A quiet pocket of coast redwoods, Roy’s underwent a restoration in the fall of 2024.

There are wooden bridges, elevated trails of milled redwood, creative paths made of sawed logs, and even an area dedicated to building “forts” from wood found on the forest floor.

Dog friendly, this is a perfect place for families!

Roy’s Redwoods is best when there is still a lot of light in the sky. Sessions should start 3 hours before sunset or 1 1/2 hours after sunrise. And if it is overcast we’ll pivot to the San Geronimo Commons.

San Geronimo Open Space

San Geronimo Park is a sprawling public space that offers endless, convenient options for photo sessions.

There are small ponds with ducks, open grassy spaces for kids to play, magnificent old oak trees, and trails up the mountain allowing sweeping views of classic Marin rolling hills.

Known locally as “The Commons,” dogs are allowed off-leash, making it a great place to include your pup.

With big views and open skies, the best light in The Commons happens soon after sunrise or just before sunset.
