This Family

When parents reach out about booking family photos, there’s often a quiet hesitation. Will my kids even cooperate? Will this just turn into a stressful mess? Here’s a little reassurance straight from one of my favorite returning families.

MOM, PRE-SESSION QUESTIONNAIRE
“One wild toddler and two wild preschoolers must be kept far from cliffs at all times. Wild toddler will likely try to eat sand if available. Wild toddler was recently upgraded to ‘unstable walker’ status and refuses to be picked up—this means we won’t be covering a lot of ground. The two preschoolers tend to provoke each other frequently.
“Expecting slow motion chaos + frequent snack (bribe) breaks.”

If you smiled reading that, you’re not alone. Every family has its brand of chaos. And honestly? That’s exactly what makes your photos beautiful.

AFTER DELIVERING THEIR GALLERY
“Hi David!
“We so appreciate your creativity and professionalism. We’ve worked with photographers who excelled artistically but fell short on the professionalism /client experience side. You exceeded our expectations on both fronts every year…
– Michelle
“Thank you for capturing the beautiful chaos—wrinkled noses, gap-toothed smiles, eyes full of wonder, and of course, the bribery pretzels.”

“I feel emotional looking through them now, knowing these moments are ones I’ll treasure for years to come. THANK YOU!”
FROM YEARS PAST…
“Hi David!
“We are swooning over our photos!!! You’ve captured the essence of our girls and family in such a beautiful way. We are so impressed with all that you were able to capture in the midst of all the chaos…
“You know the saying ‘The days are long but the years are short’? It can feel like time (and their childhood) is slipping away. With these photos you’ve given us a tangible way to hold onto and treasure our kids’ childhood.
“It’s clear that you pour your heart into your craft…”
– Michelle
This Is Why

This is why I photograph families – because want you to remember how it felt.
If you see beauty in the chaos, if you want to remember the whole rollercoaster that is childhood + parenthood, I hear you.
