Your Baby & Newborn Photographer in San Francisco

Capturing those magic moments in beautiful authenticity.

Lifestyle newborn photography

It is literally their first time around the sun. And every. single. day. is different.

You are tired, but you know this is a moment, and you know it won’t last forever.

Lifestyle newborn photography is meant to capture both beauty and authenticity.

If you believe that it’s all beautiful, the whole thing – the joy, the wonder, and even those precious tears too – you are in the right place.

“The days are long, but the years are short. Enjoy every moment because they grow up so fast.”

– Every parent I know

In Home

Lifestyle baby & newborn sessions usually take place in-home. We are looking to capture your infant as a part of your family and this is where everyone, including your baby, is most comfortable.

Home is where you spend a lot of your time with a tiny newborn, so not only do you know where to look for everything you need, but the pictures from an in home session feel authentic and real.

If you are looking to capture the tender beauty of that first month together, I always recommend in-home lifestyle sessions.

& outdoor

Outdoor baby & newborn photoshoots are not for everyone, but they can be magical. They also start to make a lot more sense once your baby is closer to six months old.

If your family spends a lot of time outside and wants to capture the wonder of your baby as they look up at a canopy of trees or out toward the sea, I’m here for it. I want to tell that story.

“Babies are like little suns that, in a magical way, bring warmth, happiness, and light into our lives.”

Questions I frequently answer

In lifestyle newborn photography, the optimal time to capture those precious moments is typically between 7 and 14 days after your baby’s birth. During this period, you’ve had a moment as a family to settle in, and babies are more alert and responsive, allowing us to capture their emerging personalities and genuine interactions with you and your family.

Certainly not! I recommend scheduling before 2 weeks largely because some infants go through a period of baby acne from 2-5 weeks, but I also understand that every baby has their own timeline, and I can create beautiful and meaningful images of your little one at any age.

The best time of day for an in-home lifestyle newborn photo session is typically in the middle of the day. This allows us to make the most of natural light and utilize various spaces within your home. By scheduling the session during this time, we can capture beautiful and authentic moments of connection between you and your baby.

For outdoor newborn sessions, 1 hour after sunrise or 2 hours before sunset is the best time to begin a session.

When it comes to sibling interactions during newborn photoshoots, I prioritize baby safety above all else. If parents are comfortable, I love incorporating siblings by having them hold the baby or capturing sweet moments together on the bed. However, I always assess the situation and ensure that any toddlers are calm and gentle. Your child’s safety is my top priority, and I work closely with parents to create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

I allow for a longer session duration to accommodate these needs. 2 hours is more than enough. If your baby needs a feeding, snack, or quick nap, we take the necessary breaks. I remain patient and flexible, giving you time to comfort your little one. Your baby’s comfort and well-being are my top priorities, ensuring a stress-free experience for everyone involved.

I do not offer studio or posed newborn photography. I am looking for beauty and authenticity in your family’s natural environment.

After 2-4 weeks I’ll deliver your gallery, which includes a slideshow set to slightly over-dramatic music. I just can’t help myself :). Your gallery will be open for a month. If you purchase digital images, they will be downloadable as full resolution jpeg files.

I won’t ghost you after your gallery is delivered. With a curated list of my favorite print products to choose from, and a personal guide (me), this part is fun and inspiring.

All session packages cover kids and their parents. My style is about telling the entire story, so any more than that and we need to budget more time. I charge an additional $100 for each extended family member.

Pets are often a part of the family story, so we want to include them when it is safe and comfortable. With a little baby around, we generally include your pet during the first or last 30 (ish) minutes of the session. You know your dog well, so exercise the necessary caution and judgment when considering whether to include them in family photos.

I try to use discretion and show the utmost respect when sharing, and most of my clients are happy to help me promote my small business by sharing their images. But if you’d rather not, I totally respect that. For a small additional fee, I am happy to keep your images private.
