Education & Coaching for Photographers
Hard-earned wisdom on building a sustainable photography business without social media.
This is not a sales page
Alright, technically it’s a sales page.
But this is where I should be telling you about the multiple-six-figure business you could be running and the lavish lifestyle you would be living if only you hired me.
Instead, I’m going to tell you the truth – building a quality photography business is hard.
But you can do it. I believe in you.
Spread thin?
In a few short years, I built a family photography business that I love, one that feels like an extension of myself and an outlet for my creativity.
I used some unconventional tactics because I wasn’t willing to conform to all the typical “boxes” we put family photographers in.
If you feel exhausted, spread thin, like you’re burning the candle at both ends and barely making any money, I might be able to help.
I have some hard-earned, deeply considered wisdom I’d love to share with you.
Let’s see if we’re a good fit.

Are you…
01
Looking for ways to get in front of your ideal client?
02
Hoping to simplify your business?
03
Ready to ditch social media?
04
Willing to work for it?

Instead, build your email list with a Popup Studio
With the Popup Studio, you show up anywhere your ideal client does – at farmers markets, street fairs, Halloween parades, nonprofit fundraisers – and you offer free portraits in exchange for an email address.
Yes, I said free.
The Popup Studio is marketing without being salesy.
You literally put yourself in front of potential clients, you give them something free and enjoyable, and then you keep in touch. There’s nothing cheesy about it.
This formula is pure gold. It is my go-to recipe for booking ideal clients. I built my entire business on it.
And craft a website you LOVE
As a creative, you need a space that feels like yours.
For photographers, this used to be a storefront or a studio. But assuming you don’t have either of those, what is your space?
It likely isn’t Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest. Those require that you adapt to their formula.
But your website can be whatever you want it to be. It can be a creative pursuit in its own right. It is your studio, your storefront, your front porch.
You deserve to be proud of your website.

To attract ideal clients organically with SEO
Search engines are built to get a person exactly what they are looking for as efficiently as possible, which happens to be the same thing you want.
This is why I love SEO (yes, I really love it).
No playing the algorithm, no keyword stuffing, no quantity-over-quality BS…real SEO is about crafting exactly what your ideal client is looking for.
My approach to SEO isn’t “easy,” but it feels good and is even (dare I say?) enjoyable.
Business Coaching

Forget “fake it till you make it.” I’m not into that. Here’s what I’m good at, and not.
I’m good at –
I’m not so good at…

What does it cost?
$75 per hour
$500 for 10 hours
Free 30 minute intro
“I reached out to David for some coaching for my photography business after I heard him on a podcast. He was so easygoing and generous. Without giving away any secret sauce, I’ll say that what he told me will be integral in my business going forward. In particular, he gave me permission to run my business in an atypical way, but a way that worked for me. Then, he guided me towards compatible strategies for the highest impact for my effort. He’s lived it and wants to help. Thank you, David.”

Thrive
(without social media)
A couple of years ago I realized that I was analyzing nearly every part of my day for its value on social media. I didn’t want to live that way.
Whatever your reasons for moving away from social media, I support you. I left in early 2024 and you know what? That year I made 2.5 times what I did in 2023.
There are thousands of ways to market your business, and you only have time to do a few of them well. Let’s find the ones that align with your values, your needs, and your people.
When you are aligned, you thrive.
