THREE GENERATIONS OF FISHERMEN SHARING A DAY ON A CALIFORNIA RIVER.

Here’s a father, brother, son, and grandfather that share something unique and powerful – a love for fly fishing. It’s not about the fishing or the particular activity, but instead that this family has pursued a shared passion that keeps them connected. Knowledge can be passed from older to younger, and younger to older. This sharing of experience and wisdom builds intergenerational ties that are so often neglected in modern America. I believe in the power of capturing those connections, so I was really excited to join the Newell family for a day of fly fishing on the Upper Truckee river. Through family documentary photography, we created an image gallery that tells a story and will spark their collective memories for years to come.
